tutorial

Postby yarran » Wed Jun 24, 2009 4:11 am

I recently downloaded 'seccia'. It looks very good, but ... I need a tutorial to show me how to use it - especially the visual code generator. Is there a tutorial available? Is there sample code available as well? Can it generate standalone applications? How can I start?

there are several simple examples (for each object) and more complex examples in the software folder.
C:\Program Files\Sylvain Seccia\Seccia\

here a video tutorial to start

Yes you can create your own exe files: just press F7 (Menu->Build)
If you use DirectX 3D (Dx... objects) then you will have to provide the d3dx9_36.dll file too.

The video tutorial on dailymotion.com is not focussed. It is hard to see what is happenning. Would it be possible to provide some video tutorials with 'Wink' ?

Hello...
I have just downloaded SECCIA, and don't know where to start. I'm not a professional programmer and have limited experience. I intended to start with simple console programming to get familiar with the language. I imagined writing a simple "Hello World" console program, and progressing slowly from there.

Is it feasible to do this with SECCIA? And can someone please give me directions to get me started?

Incidentally, I would be happy to pay for a CD of tutorials - eg "A Beginner's Guide to Programming with SECCIA".

And while I'm at it, can you please tell me why the language is called "Assisted"? Assisted by what?

Thank you
Devlin

the first video tutorial is a good simple example to start with VCG (visual code generator). I know the resolution is bad so if you want i can send it to you by email (6MB) in better quality.

Console programs are not possible but you can create a Win32 window easily and quickly.

If you are not an advanced user, so start with VCG instead of Code Editor because the windows (dialogs) are already created for you and you are assisted step by step to write your own instructions (see video tutorial). You don't need to use your keyboard but only (almost) your mouse and when you click anywhere in VCG, the help section is shown. Moreover you don't need to add messages or function declarations, just use the tree control.

In few words, VCG is a new programming method that I invented. It's between a visual and text programming. This tool is called generator because it's generates Seccia codes.

Of course VCG is limited, you can't create new instances and inheritance but I think these concepts are not useful for newbies.

So understand there are 2 modes: standard programming and VCG

Yes it would be nice to have a complete guide to start with VCG and very important but I'm alone to develop it for free and I don't speak english well for that. If you want to do this tutorial, I can help you... ask questions... send projects... i will write back as soon as possible...

thanks

Thank you - I would appreciate a copy of the video tutorial. I'm at sunpsych at ncable dot com dot au

I'll try the VCG, and I'll do my best to contribute something toward a tutorial.

Incidentally, an English speaker might find the following more "natural":
"Assisted Object-Oriented Programming", or
"Facilitated Object-Oriented Programming", or
"Aided Object-Oriented Programming", or
"Guided Object-Oriented Programming"

Hi everyone,

I have produced a tutorial (of sorts) as a PDF file. Hopefully it should help newbies to see how the interface of Seccia works. You'll find it on the Home Page of the Seccia website. I'd welcome feedback in the Tutorials section of this forum.
